PROCESS ORWO UN 54 - B&W REVERSAL / POSITIVE
The following is to produce 1500 ml of working chemicals and procedure to develop ORWO UN 54 film as a reversal or positive film. This amount is ideal when using large tanks to process 8mm, 16mm, 35mm reversal film.

FIVE CHEMICALS
Use containers designed for lab or chemical use.
(1) FIRST DEVELOPER
- 500 ml DEKTOL (1+2)
- 1000 ml distilled water
(2) BLEACH
- 1200 ml distilled water
- 180 ml sulphuric acid (10% strength) Note: adjust amount according to concentration. When mixing, carefully add acid to water - not water to acid!
- 15 grams potassium dichromate (this substance is a carcinogen – use extreme caution when working with this chemical at all stages of processing; gloves, goggles, apron, proper ventilation).
- Top off to with distilled water to 1500 ml
(3) CLEARING BATH
- 500 ml KODAK HYPO CLEARING BATH (1+4)
- 1000 ml distilled water
(4) SECOND DEVELOPER
- 500 ml DEKTOL (1+2)
- 1000 ml distilled water
(5) FIXER
- 375 ml KODAFIX (1+3)
- 1125 ml distilled water
Note: other brand developers, bleach contents (potassium permanganate), clearing baths, fixers are also possible but we have not tested them.
REVERSING ORWO UN 54
- 1st Developer 8 min - (Mild agitation every 15 seconds)
- Wash 5 min (Preferably running water)
- Bleach 7 min (Continuous agitation)
- Wash 5 min
- Clearing Bath 2 min (mild agitation)
- Water rinse 30 sec
- Re-exposure 2 ~ 3 min (hold up film reel to a light source and expose evenly)
- 2nd Developer 6 min (Same development for regular black and white film)
- Wash 5 min
- Fixer 5 min (Same development for regular black and white film)
- Wash 10 min (Running water)
- Wetting agent
- Hang to dry
